Crimson Kiss.

(Part 7 from 7)

“Just one question though. You don’t have to answer if you don’t want to.” he added. Casey raised his eyebrows, expectantly.
“I noticed you didn’t say that you were accused of all the other stuff so I’m assuming you actually did do it, right?” Desmond said, his mind working. Casey nodded.
“Did you actually do the vandalism?” he asked.
Casey smirked. “Yeah but they can’t prove it.” he said, devilishly.
Desmond shook his hand, smiling, and stood up. He was suddenly really thirsty and not for the usual beverage. He started towards the door and stopped short when he remembered that there was no blood left in the house. He frowned.
“Where you going?” Casey asked, smirking as if he knew something Desmond didn’t.
Desmond just licked his lips which were suddenly dry. His fang grazed his lip and h touched his finger to it, confused. He hadn’t even felt them slide out.
“I’m thirsty.” he murmured. Thirsty was now an understatement. He was dehydrated.
“I have a bottle of water. Want it?” Casey asked, still sporting that grin.
Desmond shook his head. “I want blood. BAD.” he said as his fangs began to ache and his stomach started to cramp. He hadn’t felt like this in centuries. It was as if he’d hadn’t drank blood in over months. He was mystified. Why was he so thirsty all of a sudden and why did Casey think it was so funny?

Then he got a crazy thought: What if Casey was making him thirsty? Desmond looked up at his new roommate, who still modeled that I-Know-Something-You-Don’t-Know smile. It started to piss Desmond off. He glared. Casey laughed.
“You figured it out.” he said and Desmond continued to glare. Casey frowned, sarcastically.
“Are you mad?” he taunted but Desmond didn’t answer. He instead asked a question of his own.
“How old are you?” he demanded.
“Ancient.” Casey announced, arrogantly.
The older you were, the stronger and more powerful you were. Casey had worked his way into Desmonds mind and took control of it, without Desmond knowing, and had hyped up his blood lust to the point where Desmond’s stomach began to cramp up from the need. It was amazing that Desmond didn’t feel anything until it hit him all at once. It was like a head rush. If Casey kept this up, Desmond could die.
“Why are you doing this?” Desmond demanded, angrily. Casey shrugged a shoulder, half heartedly.
“I don’t know. You’re actually really adorable and I don’t want you to die.” he said, chewing his lip in deep thought. Desmond guessed he was trying whether or not to stop. He hoped he would. Desmond abruptly doubled over as his stomach convulsed and he dropped to his knees clutching his stomach. Casey just watched.

“I am trying to decide.” Casey murmured and Desmond glared up at him from the floor. Casey was reading his mind.
“I’m doing that, too.” Casey said, smirking. Desmond flipped him off and Casey frowned sarcastically.
“That’s not very nice.” he scolded, wagging his finger at him but Desmond noticed that the pain was gone and the overwhelming lust for blood was now a dull throb in the back of his mind. He’d stopped.
“If you’re stable and ancient, why are you here? Shouldn’t you be off running your own coven?” Desmond asked, standing to his feet. He was livid. He wanted to desperately pummel Casey in the face but even he knew that fighting an ancient vampire is suicidal. Casey almost killed him with his mind, imagine what he could do with his physical strength. Desmond’s hands slightly trembled at the thought.
Casey shrugged a shoulder. “I never wanted to have my own coven and besides wandering the streets for centuries gets boring gets boring. So I pretended to be a rogue so that I could be found and put into a coven.” he said.
“Why were you wandering the streets? Don’t you have a home?” Desmond asked.
“I hated my mansion. It was so big and empty.” Casey said as if Desmond should already know.
“Does Krystian know?” Desmond asked, planning to do anything he could to get Casey kicked out. Then he remembered Casey was reading his mind. He must’ve stopped listening, Desmond thought because he didn’t react to that thought.
The flirty mood had burned up like Casey’s cigarette. Now there was only tension; the tension Casey seemed to relish in.

“Come on. If he knew would I be here?” the ancient vampire reasoned and Desmond concluded that it made sense. Casey’s hazel eyes unexpectedly burned with an deep fire as his face became solemn. He looked downright scary but irresistible all at once.
“I would hate to see what happens to the guy who tells him though.” he said, monotonously. He’d heard the thought. Those few words sent shivers through Desmond’s spine.
There was a small knock on the door and Daniel, David and Ryder came in.
“Hey guys!” Casey called, happily. Desmond glanced back at his roommate.
The dark, sinister Casey was gone with the smiling, friendly Casey Desmond had known up to this point. The thought that he could do that, and so well, was unsettling. It was almost as if he had not just threatened Desmond’s life. Twice.
A thought swiftly passed through Desmond’s mind.
We’ll talk more. I’m really not a bad guy if you stay on my good side.
He glanced over at Casey who was looking at him. He was smiling a little. Desmond looked away.
I’ll be the judge of that. Desmond sent back and he heard Casey sigh.
“Daniel, I see that you made it back.” Desmond said aloud to his best friend.
Daniel laughed, hoarsely. “Yeah. Dom just dropped me and the girls off. He’s coming back to hang out in a few hours.”
“What exactly did you guys do after me and David left?” Desmond asked, smirking.

Daniel just shook his head. “Stuff I didn’t know the human body could do.” he murmured. “Fortunately I can’t remember most of it but the stuff I do remember...I’m going to Hell.” he said, looking scared.
Everyone laughed as he just shook his head, shamefully.
“So you’re the other twin?” Casey asked, speaking to Daniel, who nodded. He was now smitten just as everyone got when they first met Casey. Desmond knew the face behind the beautiful mask and he wasn’t fooled. Much. He still thought Casey was beyond words but his judgment of him was questionable now.
“I’m Daniel and you are?” he said, stepping further into the room, towards Casey who slowly stood.
Casey grabbed Daniels hand and kissed it. “Casey. Nice to meet you, Daniel.” he said, sexily, flashing him a million dollar smile and looking into his eyes with his indescribable ones.
Well you just like everyone, don’t you? Man whore. Desmond sent to Casey who laughed a little but only they knew the reason. Everyone else just thought it was a flirty laugh.
Daniel blushed a little pink and smiled. “You too.” he said.

“It was nice to see you all but if you don’t mind, Desmond and I were in the middle of a very private conversation so could everyone come back shortly?” Casey asked, standing back up all the way and letting Daniel’s hand slide from his. Daniel looked like he could cry.
“A very private conversation with Desmond?” David said, skeptically. Desmond knew what he thought: sex. He rolled his eyes. Did people think that was all he did?
“Seriously, Dave. We were just talking.” Desmond said, slightly irritated.
“If you say so.” David said and Desmond could tell he still didn’t believe him.
“A conversation with Casey doesn’t last very long. If I know Casey, and I do, you’ll be on your knees in minutes.” Ryder said, shaking his head and Casey frowned.
“I can control myself.” he said and Ryder nodded, patronizingly.
“I’m sure you can. Just not well is all I’m saying.” he said and Casey flipped him off.
“Wouldn’t be the first time.” Ryder said, raising an eyebrow and Desmond glanced at Casey who flushed pink. He was even cuter when he was embarrassed.
“Out.” Casey said, ushering people towards the door. Everyone complied and they were out the door in seconds but not before David shouted, “Use protection!”.
Casey turned back to Desmond after closing the door and smiled, sheepishly.
“What was I saying before we were interrupted?” he asked, going and sitting on Desmonds bed, which was closer than his own.
“You threatened me.” Desmond spat and Casey nodded.

“Right. I did, didn’t I? Well you can understand why.” he said, non chalant.
“No. I can’t. Explain.” Desmond requested and Casey patted the bed next to him, motioning for Desmond to sit next to him. Desmond thought for a moment. If Casey had wanted to hurt him or kill him, he would’ve.
“I don’t want to hurt nor kill you, Desmond. I just want you to sit.” Casey laughed. Desmond did and Casey brought one leg up onto the bed and stretched it out behind Desmond so that Desmond was between his legs. He couldn’t help but glance down at Casey’s crotch but he quickly looked back up. He wouldn’t allow his mind to process it in case Casey was still in his mind.
“Well if people found out I was an ancient, they’d report me to the Elders. Do you know what the Elders would do if they found out I was ancient?” Casey said. Desmond shook his head.
“They’d make me join them. Do you know what would happen if I joined them?” Casey continued. Desmond once again shook his head.
“They’d make me a Peacemaker.” Casey said, softly.
Peacemakers were the Elders “regulators”. If a rogue or coven started to cause a problem or draw too much attention to themselves, the Peacemakers came in and slaughtered them. They also “regulated” human anti-vampire groups on a daily basis. That was one of the main reasons humans and vampires didn’t get along much. Peacemakers were made up mainly of ancient vampires who excelled in certain areas. Desmond figured Casey’s would be his mind. If the Elders wanted you as a Peacemaker, it was either do it or die. Judging by Casey’s face, he didn’t want to do either. Anyone who willingly became a Peacemaker were frowned upon by the entire vampire population.

“I’m guessing you don’t want to be a Peacemaker?” Desmond asked and Casey shook his head, his eyes were distant.
“I can’t kill all of those people. I’m not a monster but I am a little crazy. Aren’t we all?” he laughed a little and Desmond smiled at him, sincerely. He really wasn’t a bad guy. He was just panicking. He had to keep his age a secret or he’ll be forced to be something he hated.
“I only did what I did to you because...I don’t know how else to put it other than ‘put you in your place’. I had to make sure you kept quiet. I can’t just tell anyone. Ryder doesn’t even know. He knows I’m really powerful and he worships the Peacemakers. He wants me to join.” Casey said and Desmond frowned. All at once his opinion of Ryder changed. Anyone who liked those sadists was not a friend of his. Casey must’ve read his mind.

“He’s a good guy though. It’s just...he’s still fairly young and you know how the Elders only praise the Peacemakers around the young ones that way they want to join and then when they join they find out the truth. I’ve tried to tell Ryder several times but he doesn’t believe me. After all, he thinks we’re around the same age.” Casey said, bitterly. He took his hat off and ruffled his hair. Now that Desmond was closer he could see that it was silky and it had a soft blue shine to it that true black hair had. He also noticed that Casey’s eyes were a deep amber and they had a black ring around them that made it hard to look away. He was too beautiful to be real. Desmond had to touch him to see if he was. He touched Casey’s hair and Casey looked up at him with those magnificent eyes of his. His hair was just as silky as it looked. It felt like satin on his fingers. Casey just stared at Desmond who was fascinated in him. Desmond let Casey’s hair slip between his fingers and he touched his finger to one of Casey’s lip rings. It was polished black and it was smooth and cold to the touch. Casey’s lip trembled slightly as Desmond slid his finger from one ring to the next.
